The 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS 450 Is a Glorious Return for the Straight Six Engine

(Full disclosure: Mercedes-Benz wanted me to drive the 2019 CLS 450 Coupe and CLS 450 4MATIC so bad, it invited me to a wet drive through New Jersey Wednesday morning for lunch, and then fed me dinner after unveiling the new A-Class, "A" for American, sedan on the roof of a Manhattan hotel.) 2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class First Drive: Still A Trendsetter

2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class First Drive: Still A TrendsetterBy : , EditorThe CLS reinvents the four-door coupe segment, again. While the Mercedes-Benz E-Class sedan – with which it shares its platform – opts for all-out luxury, the CLS attempts to win over performance-minded buyers instead. The thickness of the steering wheel might have something to do with it; it felt way too bulky in my hands. But the cruise control settings have moved to the steering wheel, and the electronic steering wheel adjuster is located lower down. 2019 Mercedes-Benz C-Class: A modest but perceptible generation gap

as mentioned in According to Mercedes , the 2019 C-Class family is "fully refreshed," which sounds more like how we should feel after a shower with Irish Spring. Quite well, as long as you understand who the target market for the 2019 C-Class models is. Size-wise, there's not much new here: Length for the C-Class models is about 185 inches, on a 111.8-inch wheelbase. The C43s are powered by a 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged V-6 with 385 horsepower, up 23 from the 2018 models. All the 2019 C-Class models are limited to a top speed of 130 mph, which I brushed up against several times on the Autobahn.

2019 Mercedes-Benz CLS450 first drive review: Fashion-forward

The Mercedes-Benz CLS-Class has always stood as a flashier alternative to the E-Class sedan that shares its platform. We already took a spin in the hot-to-trot Mercedes-AMG CLS53 variant earlier this year, so now it's time to focus on the volume model CLS450. Despite Mercedes-Benz's determination to call this a four-door coupe, it's just a sedan with a more steeply raked rear roofline. In Eco mode, the hybrid system also disengages the engine during downhill driving and highway coasting, adding some green credential. That's the 2019 CLS-Class in a nutshell -- there's plenty to enjoy, and it will give its driver everything they're after.
